Rip & resock
March 7, 2008 by mosaica
Gaining sock mojo, not to mention general knitting mojo, is an adventure best not undertaken by the lily-livered.
One of the most difficult things to do is ripping out several hours, or even a whole day’s worth of knitting. But being able to do so, and doing so without feeling awful or regretful, is ultimately rewarding, I find. I believe it’s part of becoming more of a balanced knitter –focusing as much on the process of knitting as on the end product.
All of this philosophizing before tea.. must make tea.
I did end up ripping out the 3 inches or so I’d knit on Wednesday because the actual mid-sock circumference was turning out humongous. So I remeasured according to Miss Bordhi’s architecture as layed out in her New Pathways for Sock Knitters: Book One, and instead of size 2.50 needles and a mid-foot stitch count of 72, I started over with size 2.25 needles and a mid-foot stitch count of 68. So far so good (she says a bit guardedly).

Did I mention today what an AWESOME knitter you are?????
If I didn’t.
You ROCK!
This is the best sock ever!

I’m glad that I’m not the only one who has to rip out sections of needling.
And I’m a bit behind on email (like usual!), but no worries on the lipstick holder. I’ll wait as long as necessary!
